The Need

Nearly a quarter of the world’s population, 1.7 billion people, suffer from debilitating diseases that are connected to a lack of water, sanitation, and hygiene. Termed neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), they cause blindness, malnutrition, and anemia in millions, disproportionately impacting women and children living in impoverished conditions, and preventing them from going to school or caring for their families.

But these diseases are preventable.

Solution

Our unique approach is based first and foremost on local ownership. We believe that in order to have a successful and sustainable program, the community itself must lead the way. We  work with the community to identify blocks to good health and explore the root causes of disease.  It is through these locally-based solutions that we have recorded a measurable reduction in disease.
